KJ pledges loyalty to Umno, shoots down possibility of joining PN

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has reiterated that he will remain an Umno member.

"I thank Pas for the offer to join Perikatan Nasional (PN) but I am still loyal as an Umno member," he told Berita Harian.

Khairy said this when asked about the offer extended by Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar to join any component party in PN.

Earlier, Ahmad Samsuri, who is also Terengganu menteri besar, said PN and Pas are ready to welcome the former health minister to join the party should he be sacked from Umno.

He said Khairy could also choose any component party under PN that he wishes to join, adding that PN and Pas leadership warmly welcome him.

It was also reported that Umno would hold the Supreme Council meeting tomorrow evening to discuss the action that would be taken against the Umno Youth chief on the 'Merdeka Move' allegations.

Khairy had previously said 'phantom delegates' were brought in to add to the number of people who will lend their support for the voice for the additional no-contest motion for Umno's top two posts to be passed.
