Faizal Azumu talks of 'cruel leader' at solat hajat event at Pas base

GOMBAK: Perikatan Nasional deputy chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu advised those entrusted to lead the country to do so responsibly.

When met by reporters at the Pas Tarbiyah Centre here prior to a congregation for the 'solat hajat', he said a leader needed to avoid being cruel.

"When you become a responsible leader, lead the country properly without any cruelty towards people," he said.

When asked by the media about who he was referring to as being a cruel leader, Faizal replied: "You think? I'd expect you to know."

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today confirmed that former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has been arrested.

The graft busters in a statement said the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president was arrested at the MACC headquarters at 1pm today when he was summoned to record statements over the Jana Wibawa scandal and other related issues.

The MACC also said it had been granted approval from the Attorney General Chambers to prosecute Muhyiddin, who is also the Pagoh member of parliament, at a court in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.

Despite Muhyiddin's arrest, Faizal, who is Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia deputy president, harboured hopes that the former prime minister could somehow be allowed to attend the congregation.

"We pray that the Bersatu president will also be able to attend."

Bersatu vice-president Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin and its secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin were also seen arriving at the same venue to perform the solat hajat.

The event dubbed as 'Solat Hajat for the Country's Security and Solidarity Against Cruelty' involves PN component party leaders, members and supporters.
