Faizal: Muhyiddin's graft charges has united Bersatu

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin being charged with graft has strengthened the relationship between party members.

Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said there was no division or split among Bersatu members even though the party was going through a difficult phase.

"To be very honest, there is no division among our members at any level.

"In fact, this has made everyone more united to stand by our leader," he said at a press conference after the Bersatu women's wing's annual general meeting today.

He said the situation had affected the party's annual general meeting, scheduled to run from today to Sunday.

"The mood is a bit sombre due to the charges, but we are standing strong and united."

Earlier today, Muhyiddin, who is Perikatan Nasional chairman, pleaded not guilty at two Sessions Court here to six counts of corruption and abuse of power involving RM427.5 million.

Muhyiddin is the latest Bersatu leader to be slapped with charges in relation to the Jana Wibawa programme introduced during his tenure as prime minister.

Bersatu information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Segambut Bersatu division deputy chief Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad have also been charged with corruption in relation to the programme.
