Umno polls: Wan Rosdy first to secure party VP post

KUALA LUMPUR: Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has secured his position as one of the three Umno vice-presidents.

According to the official tally, Wan Rosdy has obtained a simple majority after the Pahang Umno liaison committee chairman received votes from 63 divisions.

The Umno vice-president hopefuls contesting in the party election need to gain at least 63 votes to secure their position.

Three votes away from obtaining a simple majority to secure his position as the Umno vice-president is Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

As of 10.40pm, Khaled, who is also the Kota Tinggi member of parliament, had obtained votes from 60 divisions.

In third place is Federal Territories Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.

The Titiwangsa MP has so far received votes from 48 party divisions.
