Melaka councillor: Stop lying, aren't you afraid of meeting Allah later?

MELAKA: "It is not because of the position. If I love the position, I will remain silent. Allah is the one who determines our rezeki and sustenance," said State Tourism, Heritage and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis.

That was his reply when asked on the rationale of his statement on "Ketua Menteri pintu belakang (back door chief minister)" as reported by a news portal, which were linked to rumours that he would be dropped as a state executive council member.

Jailani also claimed that he knew the real reason behind Lendu assemblyman Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali's resignation as chief minister, which was not due to health problems, but he was forced to do so.

"My statement was said to affect the stability of the government, but does this resignation strengthen the government?

"The purpose (of the resignation) to ensure a smooth state administration is by way of force. Sulaiman is not the type of person who loves to fight back. If the reason given (for the resignation) is because he is sick, I, myself, am also sick.

"The sickness that he (Sulaiman) is suffering from does not does not prevent him from carrying out his duties (as chief minister).

"Stop deceiving the people. Sulaiman knows and I also know about it. Those involved in defending him and those who brought him down also know," he said when contacted.

Jailani claimed that the proposal to name Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh as the 13th chief minister was not discussed with him and the rest of the state exco line-up.

"I am not a Pak Turut (yes man). I will not support things that are not true. My advice to the leadership, be it at the national level or state level… we are Malays and we are Muslims who are currently fasting.

"Enough is enough. Stop lying. Aren't you afraid of meeting Allah later?" he said, while announcing that he would hold a special press conference later.
