Social media exposes Israel's brutality

LETTER: The world is witnessing the incredible power of social media after the Israeli Zionist regime attacked Al-Aqsa Mosque, which resulted in death and injuries to Palestinians.

Rarely has attention been given to Palestinians, even though attacks on Palestine occur daily.

But with many reactions from social media users because of the attacks, the Palestinian-Israeli issue is once again getting the world's attention.

This is especially when Israeli soldiers bombed Gaza near the end of Ramadan, forcing the Al-Qassam Brigade to counter attack.

Israel is finding out that people, especially the younger generation, no longer accept its explanations easily.

With the Covid-19 pandemic raging across the world, hundreds of thousands of people across the globe demonstrated in the streets, expressing support for Palestine.

Thousands have taken to the streets in Turkey, Qatar, Madrid, London and Indonesia to express support for Palestinians in Gaza and Jerusalem.

For once, Western news agency reports favouring Israel could not match the millions of uploads on social media about the atrocities of the Israeli Zionist government against the defenceless Palestinians.

It is true that given the limited capacity to help, there are not many things the world community can do for Palestinians, apart from giving financial aid directly through non-governmental organisations and sending prayers.

However, we can do some things that can have a significant impact on the Palestinian liberation struggle.

This includes a boycott of Israeli products and using the Internet and social media to fight Israeli propaganda.

A new challenge is social media companies limiting access to millions of uploads denouncing Israel's oppression.

Despite that, due to an outpouring of advocacy on the Palestinian problem, broadcast material on Palestine's situation is available to the world.

Direct reporting of crisis events by Internet users has also raised global awareness.

The narrative of international news was for a long time monopolised by Israeli-influenced Western media. Its own pioneering platforms — the power of the Internet and social media — have shattered it.

This is a clear indicator of Israel's future, and its atrocities will surely cease, while the Palestinian liberation movement will reap the benefits of the latest battle.

Since Israel was established in Palestine in 1948, the struggle has never ended. Many lives have been lost, but survivors are still battling with all their might to save their homeland.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque was again attacked by Israeli troops. They used tear gas on Muslims worshipping at the third holiest place in Islam in the holiest month of Ramadan.

There is no excuse for the ummah to remain silent and accept this tyranny.
