Honesty, integrity the bedrock of leadership

LETTERS: Time and again we see why the integrity of a leader is important.

As former United States president Dwight D. Eisenhower puts it "without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether, it is on a section gang, in a football club, in an army, political party, or in an office".

During the course of my work as a human resource consultant, I found that employees rated integrity as the most essential leadership trait.

Employees want to work for leaders who are ethical and abide by the core values of their organisation, be it in the private or public sector.

Likewise, citizens national leaders who walk the talk on "Keluaraga Malaysia" with fair policies, integrity, trust, respect, responsibility and accountability when discharging duties.

The should not be divisive policies that will divide the people.

Leaders with integrity will strengthen business and employee satisfaction, and attract investors and talented professionals to our country.

Effective leaders create a culture that values integrity, trust and character through their words, action, decisions and people engagement.

Leaders need to reinforce integrity at all levels be it in the civil service nor private sector.

Leaders know that honesty and integrity are the foundations of leadership and there are no moral shortcuts in leading a company or nation.
