The pandemic had a silver lining

LETTERS: The Covid-19 pandemic affected the economy, society and public health, but there was also a silver lining.

One is that many people started to embrace digital technology as it played an important role in reducing the spread of the virus.

Many businesses employed digital platforms to sell and promote their products.

Employees in the public and private sectors switched from working in the office to working from home.

Students, teachers and lecturers had no choice but to embrace the new norm of learning and teaching.

But some students had poor Internet access. The government is working to ensure no one falls behind.

During the pandemic, students used online platforms to gain knowledge.

Teachers and lecturers shared their knowledge and gave free lessons and workshops.

This shows that there are no boundaries in knowledge sharing with digital technology.

Students can avail themselves of this opportunity to gain knowledge. They don't have to depend on teachers.

This practice must be continued even after the pandemic.

Students, teachers and lecturers were exposed to Zoom, Google Meet and Webex, which they were not familiar with prior to the pandemic.

Those who were weak in English improved their proficiency by taking classes on italki, a language learning platform.

There is no need to go to the United Kingdom or the United States to improve your English.

So the number of students and teachers on italki mushroomed during the pandemic.
