Good to see parents exercising with their kids

LETTERS: I feel so heartened on my daily hikes up Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, when I see parents with their young ones in tow.

These parents are infusing the exercise culture into the young, which will bring long-term benefits to themselves and the country.

The seeds need to be planted from young so that exercise and sports will become normal for youth.

There are two ways to do this: through schools and families.

Schools play a role in motivating the young to take part in sports and exercise.

Parents can encourage their children to regard exercise as a fun and normal family activity.

Staying active will cultivate good health. However, only a small proportion of Malaysians exercise regularly.

We have yet to reach the stage where Malaysians value the benefits of sports and exercise.

Malaysians must include sports and exercise in their lifestyle.

This will hopefuly translate into greater activity and productivity.
