Shuttlers were withdrawn to prepare for Lithuania

Reigning Sea Games champion S. Kisona, Goh Jin Wei and Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun have been withdrawn from the Spain Masters, which starts today.

BA of Malaysia (BAM) coaching director Wong Choong Hann said they did not seem ready to compete in tournaments just yet.

"We decided that these players were not ready to play in the Spain Masters, so we withdrew them.

"It's not a big issue. The plan is to build the four players up a little more and then get them to play in June," said Choong Hann yesterday.

The national body have plans to send players for the Lithuanian International in June.

Meanwhile, several other national players will be playing in the Spain Masters and the Slovenia International.

Choong Hann hopes these shuttlers will make full use of the opportunity to shine, especially at the Spain Masters.

"For some, this will be their first time playing in a Super 300 event (Spain Masters).

"Hopefully, they will take the full opportunity and do their best," he added.
