Olympic champion dies after playing badminton

KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesia's Olympic gold medallist Markis Kido died today at the age of 36.

The men's doubles shuttler was reported by Indonesian media to have suffered a heart attack after playing badminton in Tangerang.

Kido, together with current World No 2 Hendra Setiawan, won the Olympic men's doubles gold in 2008 in Beijing.

The duo also won the 2007 World Championships crown in Kuala Lumpur, and the 2010 Asian Games gold.
