KUALA LUMPUR: Mixed doubles Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying will not qualify for the quarter-finals of the Tokyo Olympics.
On Sunday, the 2016 Rio Olympics silver medallists suffered a second straight defeat in the group stage, losing 21-12, 21-15 to Germany's Mark Lamfuss-Isabel Herttrich.
The Malaysians, who ply their trade as professionals, will play World No 3 Wang Yi Lyu-Huang Dong Ping of China in their final Group D match on Monday.
The result, however, will not matter for Peng Soon-Liu Ying, whose Olympic dreams are over following their defeat to the Germans.
In their opening tie on Saturday, Peng Soon-Liu Ying lost 21-18, 10-21, 21-16 to Hong Kong's Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet.
