Young guns shine in Germany

The BA of Malaysia's (BAM) investments in younger players are beginning to show results, when they won three out of five titles at the German Ruhr Under-19 International in Mulheim an der Ruhr on Sunday.

Malaysia won the women's doubles title through twins Cheng Su Hui-Cheng Su Yin, who defeated France's Clemence Gaudreau-Elsa Jacob 21-9, 21-16, while Su Yin and her partner, Goh Boon Tze upstaged Su Hui and Beh Chun Meng 21-15, 21-16 for the mixed doubles crown.

Boon Tze-Chun Meng completed a good day at the office for Malaysia, when they saw off German pair Jonathan Dresp-Kenneth Neumann 21-13, 21-13 in the men's doubles final.

However, at the Dutch Open men's doubles final, which was a battle of the Causeway, Malaysia went down to Singapore.

Malaysia's newly formed men's doubles Tan Kiang Meng-Tan Wee Kiong succumbed to a 21-14, 18-21, 22-20 defeat to Singapore's Terry Hee-Loh Kean Hean in the final in Almere on Sunday.

The independent pair, who did not qualify for this week's Denmark Open due to their world ranking, will compete in the French Open next week and the Hylo Open on Nov 2-7.
