Daren, Jin Wei among 25 called up for Thomas Cup, Uber Cup camp

KUALA LUMPUR: Professional shuttlers Lee Zii Jia, Goh Jin Wei, Liew Daren, Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi have made the list of 25 players for centralised training ahead of next month's Thomas and Uber Cup Finals.

The BA of Malaysia (BAM) today said the players will report for training on Friday after clearing the Covid-19 PCR test.

Jin Wei, 23, will join the camp on a later date as she is still in Gwanju, competing in the Korea Masters.

"Twenty-five players have been selected to join the training camp for the Thomas and Uber Cup Finals in Bangkok on May 8-15.

"The team of 24 players (maximum of 12 men & 12 women) will head to Bangkok on May 5.

"April 22 is the final date to submit the definitive squad list to the Badminton World Federation (BWF)," read the BAM statement.

Malaysia is in Group D for the Thomas Cup with 2014 champions Japan, England and New Zealand.

In the Uber Cup, Malaysia is in Group C alongside 2018 runners-up Thailand, Denmark and Egypt.
