KUALA LUMPUR: National men's doubles Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani cruised into the last 16 of the Indonesia Masters in Jakarta today.
The world No 12 powered past Scotland's Alexander Dunn-Adam Hall 21-9, 21-14 in just 28 minutes in their opening match at Istora Senayan.
Sze Fei-Izzuddin's path to the last eight appears less intimidating following the shocking exit of All England champions Bagas Maulana-Muhammad Shobihul Fikri.
They will fancy their chances against world No 97 Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, who stunned Bagas-Shobihul 19-21, 21-12, 21-16 in the other first-round clash of the day.
Sze Fei-Izzuddin are Malaysia's best-performing pair this season.
This year, they won the German Open and were runner-up at the Swiss Open.
They were also the semi-finalists of the Asia Championships in Manila and quarter-finalists of Thailand Open last month.
It was, however, the end of the road for two independent pairs, Goh V Shem-Low Juan Shen and Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub-Lim Khim Wah.
V Shem-Juan Shen lost 21-14, 21-17 to Fajar Alfian-Muhammad Rian Ardianto 21-14, 21-17 while Azriyn-Khim Wah were edged 14-21, 21-15, 21-17 by Terry Hee-Loh Kean Hean of Singapore.
In the women's doubles, Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah and Vivian-Hoo Lim Chiew Sien were two of the three Malaysian pairs who made it through the next stage.
Pearly-Thinaah defeated Margo Lambert-Anne Tran of France 21-13, 21-18 while Vivian-Chiew Sien outplayed Julie Finne-Ipsen-Mai Surrow 21-17, 21-7.
World No 10 Pearly-Thinaah play South Korea's Baek Ha Na-Lee Yu Lim tomorrow.
Vivian-Chiew Sien will take on home favourites Apriyani Rahayu-Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhan.
