Pearly-Thinaah storm into women's doubles final

KUALA LUMPUR: Women's doubles Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah kept their hopes alive for a maiden Commonwealth Games gold medal when they reached the final today.

The world No 11 lived up to their billing as top seeds, dispatching India's Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand Pullela 21-13, 21-16 in the semi-finals at the NEC Hall in Birmingham.

Pearly-Thinaah, favourites to win the gold, will face England's world No 14 Chloe Birch-Lauren Smith in the final tomorrow.

Former national shuttler Vivian Hoo and the retired Chow Mei Kuan won the women's doubles title in Gold Coast, Australia, four years ago.
