Shuttler Tze Yong suffers first-round setback at Hylo Open

KUALA LUMPUR: It wasn't the kind of start Ng Tze Yong had expected as he crashed out in the opening round of the Hylo Open today.

The world No 34 Malaysian, who had suffered a quarter-final exit at the Super 100 Indonesia Masters last month, was sent packing early by China's Li Shi Feng 21-12, 21-14 in 47 minutes.

It remains to be seen if the Commonwealth Games silver medallist will be able to achieve his goal of breaking into the world top 30.

Shi Feng, on the other hand, will go on to face the winner of the match between Thailand's Sitthikom Thammasin and former World Championships bronze medallist Liew Daren in the next round.

Malaysia's No 1 Lee Zii Jia had earlier withdrawn from the competition due to personal reasons.
