Pearly-Thinaah climb to new career high

KUALA LUMPUR: Even after reaching a career-high world No 9 ranking today, national women's doubles duo Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah want to remain grounded.

Not wanting to hype up their milestone or give in to overwhelming expectations from the media and fans, the French Open champions just want to continue giving their best at their own pace.

When contacted by Timesport, Thinaah said: "We are really happy to reach a new career-high ranking.

"But at the same time, we just want to focus on giving our best on the court.

"Step by step, we will take it from there."

Pearly-Thinaah, who have qualified for the season-ending World Tour Finals in Guangzhou from Dec 14-18, will not travel to Sydney for the Australian Open next week.

The other notable movers on the updated world rankings today were independent men's doubles Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi and mixed doubles combination Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing.

Yew Sin-Ee Yi moved a rung up to No 8, while Kian Meng-Pei Jing leapt four rungs up to No 7.
