Zii Jia enters Indonesia Masters second round after midnight

KUALA LUMPUR: Lee Zii Jia reached the second round of the Indonesia Masters way after midnight on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old World No 4 had to wait long into the night before chalking up a 21-18, 21-17 first round win over Taiwan's Lin Chun Yi.

Zii Jia, who has suffered two early round exits this year (Malaysia and India Opens), will play Hong Kong's Angus Ng in the second round later today.

Angus, who also played on the other side of midnight, saw off Malaysia's Cheam June Wei 21-6, 21-15 in the first round.

Other Malaysian shuttlers who checked into the second round were independent mixed doubles Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai.
