KUALA LUMPUR: Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky today confirmed that national No 3 pair Nur Izzuddin Rumsani and Goh Sze Fei have decided to part ways.
Rexy said both players, who had a meeting on Wednesday, wanted the best for their careers and their combination has not produced results recently.
The Indonesian, however, said that the final decision will have to be made by the coaches.
"Izzuddin and Sze Fei have made the decision to part ways but the decision to separate them can only be done once the other coaches return from the Indonesia Masters," said Rexy.
Izzuddin-Sze Fei won the German Open (Super300) last year but have struggled for consistency since then.
They were knocked out of the first round of the All England, Indonesia Open, Malaysian Masters, Japan Open and Denmark Open.
They also crashed out of the second round of the Singapore Open, World Championship and French Open but managed to reach the quarter-final of the Thailand Open and Indonesian Masters.
This year, the duo suffered defeat in the first round of the Malaysia Open and the India Open before withdrawing from the ongoing Indonesia Masters.
