Tang Jie-Ee Wei power into Orleans Open semis

KUALA LUMPUR: Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei reached the mixed doubles semi-finals of the Orleans Open after powering past Swiss Open winners Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin of China 21-14, 21-15 in just 32 minutes in France on Friday.

It marked the first time the world No 26 Tang Jie-Ee Wei won a last-eight match after failing to do so at the Malaysia Open, German Open and Swiss Open.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei will face Indonesia's Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto-Lisa Ayu Kusumawati for a place in the final on Saturday.

The Malaysians will head into the match with plenty of confidence as they had defeated the world No 14 Indonesian pair 21-19, 21-16 in the second round of Malaysia Open in January

Tang Jie-Ee Wei can certainly count on their coach Nova Widianto to provide them with a winning formula again.

The two-time world champion Nova was the man who oversaw the rise of Rehan-Lisa when he was helming the Indonesian mixed doubles department previously.

Chan Peng Soon-Cheah Yee See, meanwhile, failed to make it a double joy as their gallant run was ended by another Indonesian pair Adnan Maulana-Nita Violina Marwah, losing 17-21, 21-12, 21-9.

It was also the end of the road for Leong Jun Hao in the men's singles, who went down 21-19, 21-16 to Denmark's Magnus Johannesen.
