KUALA LUMPUR: Mixed doubles Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei stormed into the semi-finals of the China Open on Friday, marking their first appearance at this stage in a Super 1000 event.
The world No. 11 defeated Taiwan's Ye Hong Wei-Lee Chia Hsin 21-15, 13-21, 21-16.
It marks their fourth consecutive victory against the world No. 15 pair.
Tang Jie-Ee Wei's previous best achievement in a Super 1000 tournament was reaching the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Open in January.
They will face eighth seeds Thom Gicquel-Delphine Delrue of France or Japan's second seeds Yuta Watanabe-Arisa Higashino for a spot in the final on Saturday.
For the record, the best-ever achievement by a Malaysian mixed doubles pair at the China Open was attained by Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying, who reached the final in 2012
