KUALA LUMPUR: Fifth seeds Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik survived a scare to reach the men's doubles second round of the India Open on Wednesday.
The world No. 5 had to dig deep to overcome world No. 31 Pakkapon Teeraratsakul-Peeratchai Sukphun of Thailand, winning 20-22, 21-18, 21-18 in 51 minutes at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi.
It was another shaky performance from Aaron-Wooi Yik, who were knocked out in the second round of the Malaysia Open last week.
The Malaysians will next face China's No. 39 Xie Hao Nan-Zhang Wei Han in the second round.
Earlier, another Malaysian pair, Lim Tze Jian-Wong Tien Ci, suffered a 21-19, 10-21, 14-21 defeat to Indonesia's Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardianto in the first round.
