KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 2 Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani ended Malaysia's 11-year title drought at the India Open by claiming the men's doubles crown in New Delhi on Sunday (Jan 19).
The Malaysian pair defeated South Korea's scratch duo Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae 21-15, 13-21, 21-16 in a 53-minute final at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex.
It was Sze Fei-Izzuddin's fourth title in five World Tour finals since August last year, adding to their Japan Open Super 750, China Open Super 1000 and Arctic Open Super 500 victories.
Former World No. 1 Datuk Lee Chong Wei was the last Malaysian to be crowned champion at the India Open, when he won the men's singles title in 2014.
The last Malaysian pair to win the men's doubles title at the India Open were Zakry Latif-Fairuzizuan Tazari in 2010.
