KUALA LUMPUR: Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi suffered another disappointing first-round exit after being ousted by Lu Ming Che-Tang Kai Wei at the Indonesia Masters on Tuesday.
Yew Sin-Ee Yi, who were eliminated in the first round of the India Open last week, failed to turn their fortunes around at the Istora Senayan Stadium in Jakarta, losing 21-23, 21-14, 19-21 to world No. 39 Ming Che-Kai Wei of Taiwan.
Ming Che-Kai Wei will now face world No. 5 Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik in the second round.
Earlier, Aaron-Wooi Yik booked their spot with a commanding 21-13, 23-21 victory over Denmark's William Kryger Boe-Christian Faust Kjaer.
Meanwhile, Nur Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong pulled off a stunning upset by defeating Indonesia's Leo Rolly Carnando-Bagas Maulana.
Ranked 29th in the world, Azriyn-Wee Kiong cruised to a 21-16, 21-17 win over the 25th-ranked Indonesians.
The Malaysians will next face China's Hao Nan Xie-Wei Han Zeng, who overcame Indonesia's Sabar Karyama Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani 15-21, 21-15, 21-16 in a hard-fought match.
In the women's doubles, Poland's world No. 64 Paulina Hankiewicz-Kornelia Marczak stunned Malaysia's Lai Pei Jin-Lim Chiew Sien, claiming a 23-21, 15-21, 21-18 victory.
