KUALA LUMPUR: They have earned the recognition. And now the offer, which is the dream of national athletes, has come in.

The chance to join the elite Road to Gold (RTG) programme.

Men's doubles, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani, who have risen to world No. 2, are now seen as Malaysia's prospects to win Olympic gold at Los Angeles in 2028.

Responding to the offer from the Sports Ministry, Sze Fei said he and his partner, Izzuddin, welcomed the offer.

Sze Fei told BH Sukan that he and Izzuddin are open to meeting with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh, to discuss the offer.

"For me, RTG is a good programme for athletes. We are open to having further discussions with the minister (Yeoh) to understand the kind of support they can offer us," said Sze Fei.

Yeoh had said that she would meet with both players to discuss the support that they might need.

Last Sunday, Sze Fei-Izzuddin won the India Open, which was their fourth title in five months, following victories at the Japan Open, China Open, and Arctic Open. They also finished runners-up at the World Tour Finals in Hangzhou, China, last month.
