Malaysia rout Qatar

MALAYSIA crushed Qatar by 10 wickets for another record-breaking win in Group A of the ACC Women's T20 Championship at the UKM Oval in Bangi today.

Opening bowler Winifred Duraisingam made the breakthrough with just her second delivery, bowling Shahreennawab Khan Bahdur for nought, as Qatar folded for 69 runs despite a valiant unbeaten 33 by Aysha Aysha.

Nur Diana Syuhada Samad and Winifred each claimed two wickets.

Wan Julia Wan Rosli (31) and Winifred (29) guided Malaysia, 33rd in the ICC women's T20I rankings, to their target without trouble for their biggest women's T20I win in terms of wickets and equal biggest in terms of balls remaining (45).

In an earlier Group A match at the Kinrara Oval, the United Arab Emirates needed just 16 balls to thump Singapore by 10 wickets after dismissing their opponents for 29 runs.

In Group B, Hong Kong began their campaign with a 14-run win over Bhutan while Nepal downed Kuwait by 25 runs.

Malaysia meet tournament favourites UAE, whose opening match against Oman on Friday was washed out, in Bangi tomorrow.

SCORES - Qatar 69 in 19.4 overs (Aysha 33 n.o, Nur Diana Syuhada 2-9). Malaysia 71-0 in 12.3 overs (Wan Julia 31 n.o, D Winifred 29 n.o). Malaysia win by 10 wickets.
