Sapura are Kings of the Road after Muhsin's win

TEAM Sapura Cycling continued their dominance in the National Road Cycling Championships by winning the men's elite competition in Manong, Perak today.

After the individual time trial triumph through Nur Aiman Rosli on Saturday, it was Muhsin Al Redha Misbah turn to finish on top of the podium for Sapura in the men's road race.

Muhsin edged Terengganu Polygon Cycling Team's Nur Amirull Fakhruddin Mazuki in a two-man sprint to win in three hours, 48 minutes and 34 seconds.

Danieal Haikkal Edy Suhaidee (+3s), who is currently on the books at Indonesian outfit Roojai Continental Team, took third.

Muhsin's teammates Zawawi Azman (+16s) and Saari Amri Abd Rasim (+24s) finished fourth and 10th, respectively, while TSG's Zamri Salleh (+16s) and Irwandie Lakasek (+24s) were fifth and ninth.

Muhsin, the younger brother of former national rider Rauf Misbah, had also won a national title in 2019, albeit in the individual time trial.

"It was a tough race," said Muhsin of his win to maintain Sapura superiority in the event.

"We knew it would be hard to win if it finished in a bunch sprint. So we positioned ourselves in the breakaway group.

"We attacked towards the end of the race, and I knew it would be close. I just gave it everything I had.

Sapura also won the race last year and 2020 through Saari Amri and Akmal Hakim Zakaria.

The men's Under-23 road race will be held today.
