Truce called in Red Warriors-FAM, MFL feud

KELANTAN FC owner Norizam Tukiman has ended his feud with the FA of Malaysia (FAM) and the Malaysian Football League (MFL) following a closed-door meeting at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya on Friday.

The three parties were caught in a bitter exchange following a media report claiming that Kelantan FC could be docked three points over players' salary arrears.

An angry Norizam then raised several issues, including the payment of the M-League broadcasting rights and unpaid referees' allowances.

"I arrived for the meeting with two lawyers.

"I had an open discussion with MFL chief executive officer Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan and FAM secretary-general Stuart Ramalingam regarding the issue.

"I will now focus on my team ahead of the new season and develop a training centre for the players.

"I also do not want issues concerning salary arrears, which is not part of the agreement between Kelantan FC and the Kelantan FA (Kafa), to affect my work.

"I hope the national body will not come up with statements that could affect Kelantan FC."

Norizam's team, who will play in the Premier League, will comprise 90 per cent of Kelantan-born players.

Norizam added: "The squad will likely be unveiled next month." The new M-League season starts on Feb 26.

Meanwhile, the MFL have denied that the new season would be postponed to a later date.

In a statement, the MFL noted that they are in discussion with the National Security Council and other concerned parties to find solutions in the hope of starting the league on Feb 26.

All sports activities are currently barred in Movement Control Order (MCO) states.
