Selangor's Hakim under observation after concussion

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor's Nor Hakim Hassan is now under observation after suffering a concussion during Sunday's friendly against Negri Sembilan at Paroi Stadium.

In the 24th minute, Negri goalkeeper Ahmad Syihan Hazmi's knee caught Hakim in the head during a corner-kick, and it left the attacking midfielder unconscious for about two minutes.

Selangor team manager Mahfizul Rusydin Abdul Rashid confirmed the incident and said Hakim is now under observation.

"Hakim did not have time to turn and subsequently fell following the challenge. And realising the gravity of the situation, the medics attended to him immediately," said Mahfizul on Monday.

"Even Negri's medical team came onto the pitch to help Hakim. The doctors said he passed out for two minutes or less. Hakim was conscious after that and has an injury at the top of his ear.

"He is undergoing treatment for a stiff neck and is under observation,"

Selangor defeated Negri 2-0 in the friendly courtesy of goals from Brazilians Herlison Caion (10th minute) and Hyuri Henrique de Oliveira Costa (45th).
