Selangor youth footballer dies hours after match

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor youth footballer Muhammad Husni Idrus died on Wednesday, a few hours after featuring in a 3-0 defeat to Johor Darul Ta'zim III (JDT III) in a President's Cup match at the PKNS Field in Kelana Jaya.

The 21-year-old striker had collapsed in a restaurant in Petaling Jaya after the match, and the cause of death is still unknown.

The post-mortem has yet to be completed.

Selangor FC and the FA of Malaysia (FAM) extended their condolences to the deceased's family and urged the public to respect their privacy.

JDT also expressed their condolences to the Kampung Sungai Kertas local.

"We express our deepest condolences to the family of Selangor's Under-21 player Muhammad Husni Idrus following his sudden passing yesterday (Wednesday). Al-Fatihah."
