Champions JDT held by Red Giants

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor held mighty Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) to a 1-1 draw in a Super League match at the MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya today.

It was the Southern Tigers who scored first when they were awarded a penalty in the 33rd minute.

Bergson da Silva stepped up and scored his 21st goal of the season.

Nidzam Jamil's side responded after the break through Herlison Caion in the 64th minute.

It was Selangor's first point after four straight defeats

The draw, however, does not affect JDT's title chances as they continue to lead the standings with 42 points.

At the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Terengganu thrashed Melaka United 5-0.

Kpah Sherman scored in the 16th minute to put Terengganu in the lead.

Nafuzi Zain's side doubled their lead when Nik Sharif Haseefy Lazim scored in the 61st minute.

Tchetche Kipre then netted a hat-trick in the 67th, 75th and 80th minutes.

In the second half, Terengganu goalkeeper Rahadiazli Rahalim was rushed to the hospital following a collision with Melaka's Harith Naem Jaine and was replaced by Suhaimi Husin.

The win is a perfect warm-up for Terengganu, who face JDT in the FA Cup final on Sept 10.
