Selangor, Terengganu inch closer to Malaysia Cup semi-finals

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor and Terengganu inched closer to a place in the Malaysia Cup semi-finals following victories in their respective quarter-final first-leg matches today.

At the MBPJ Stadium, Selangor dominated and scored a 2-0 win over Negri.

Herlison Caion converted from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute after defender Sharul Nazeem Zulpakar was brought down inside the Negri box by Herold Goulon, who was subsequently given his marching orders.

Selangor scored their second through midfielder Aliff Haiqal Lokman Hakim Lau in the final minute of the match.

At the KLFA Stadium, Terengganu edged defending champions KL City 1-0.

Kpah Sherman scored the only goal of the match in the 14th minute.

Terengganu were down to 10 players when goalkeeper Suhaimi Husin was red-carded in the 63rd minute for a foul on KL's Romel Morales outside of the box.
