KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta'zim's (JDT) Safawi Rasid, who just got married, will ply his trade in the Thai League 1 with Ratchaburi FC next season.
Safawi married Malaysian social media influencer Syifa Melvin last week.
The 25-year-old will report to national coach Kim Pan Gon for centralised training at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya today to prepare for the AFF Cup later this month.
Safawi is set to join Ratchaburi after the AFF Cup assignment. The AFF Cup starts on Dec 20 and ends on Jan 16.
Ratchaburi chairman Tanawat Nitikanchana said: "The deal has been completed. Safawi will join our team after completing his national duty.
"I hope this will create a new fan base for our club."
It will not be Safawi's first overseas stint. In 2020, he was loaned out to Portuguese club Portimonense.
However, he returned after two months with only appearances for their youth team.
