FAM, Anwar share football views during courtesy call

KUALA LUMPUR: FA of Malaysia (FAM) president Datuk Hamidin Amin paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya today.

Hamidin briefed Anwar on current developments and future plans in Malaysian football during the one hour meeting.

This included the national squad's current campaign in the AFF Cup as well as preparations for the Asian Cup finals next year. Malaysia has qualified for the latter on merit for the first time in 43 years.

Hamidin expressed his appreciation to Anwar for taking the time to discuss important issues in Malaysian football with the national body.

"I would like to thank the Prime Minister for taking time out of his schedule to discuss a number of important agendas including matches Harimau Malaya are currently involved in," said Hamidin via social media.

"This means a lot to us in planning the future direction of Malaysian football."

Hamidin disclosed that Anwar, who is also a former Sports Minister, had also expressed his support for Malaysian football.

Hamidin was accompanied by FAM secretary-general Noor Azman Rahman.
