Hodak hopes City Boys will find their shooting boots soon

KUALA LUMPUR: As KL City enter their third pre-season friendly match by hosting the Federal Territories Minister's Cup against Perak at the KLFA Stadium tomorrow, coach Bojan Hodak expects a win.

The Croatian said in any games they play, the expectation is always to win as victories builds confidence, something which is much needed. Andas the City Boys have not found their "chemistry" yet.

"It's opening season so it's okay (to lose) but if we win, it will be better for the players thoughget s better so if it's possible to win then do but I hope there will be no injuries," said Hodak.

"We hope to play a good game so that the fans can enjoy watching it."

Hodak appeared to be slightly more relaxed than last season as he has, on paper, better strikers this year, but without a goal to show in their last two friendlies against Terengganu and Kelantan.

He hopes something will change soon.

Carrying the workload with captain Paulo Josue and Romel Morales this year will be Patricm Reichelt, Kipre Tchetche and last season's second top goalscorer in the Super League, Herlison Caion.

"IThis is why we signed them, hope they will start scoring," said Hodak.

"People think football is just about kicking the ball and running but the players need to have understanding.

Especially, for Josue, he doesn't have the understanding (yet).

"If they can gel in..."Previously, we depended on Josue and Morales to score but now we have four players who also can find the target. Even Haqimi Azim Rosli has greatly improved."

Last season KL City created history by becoming the second team from Malaysia to reach the AFC Cup final before losing 3-0 to Omani club Al Seeb.

Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) lifted the nation's first AFC Cup in 2015.
