Newcomer Fayadh determined to impress Pan Gon

JOHOR BARU: Kedah's Fayadh Zulkifli Amin is prepared to do whatever it takes to win the trust of national head coach Kim Pan Gon and subsequently a place in the starting eleven.

Fayadh realises that it will not be easy to do so but believes that with hard work and perserverance, anything is possible in football.

He is currently undergoing centralised training with the national squad at the Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) training centre at Padang Seri Gelam.

"Of course it is incredibly exciting to train together with Harimau Malaya and be around all these quality players for the first time," said Fayadh.

"If you look at the list of players that have been called up, there are some big names that play in my position on the left.

"This includes Corbin Ong, Faisal Halim, Daniel Ting and a few others.

"I will do my best to follow the coach's (Pan Gon) instructions in training and try to understand what he wants tactically.

"The training intensity under Pan Gon is very different from club level training. He is always demanding more from the players and we have to give our full attention to the training module used."

Fayadh, 24, admitted that he felt a little nervous at first but was given words of encouragement by JDT's Syafiq Ahmad and has since settled into the squad.

The national team are preparing to play two friendlies against Turkmenistan (Thursday) and Hong Kong (March 28), both at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.

Fayadh credited Kedah coach Nafuzi Zain for helping him rediscover his form at club level by giving him more playing time. This has helped him improve his confidence.
