Vietnam put half-a-dozen goals past 'poor' Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia bowed out of the women's Under-19 AFF Championships after losing 6-0 to Vietnam in Palembang, Indonesia, on Monday.

Drawn in Group B with Vietnam and Singapore, the young Malayan Tigresses were no match for the two-time finallist.

Vietnam's Ngoc Minh Chuyen scored a hat-trick in the 25th, 53rd and 88th minutes, while Vu Thi Hua (21st), Nguyen Thuy Linh (67th) and Hoang Thi Ngoc Anh (79) completed the rout.

Malaysia, who edged Singapore 1-0 in their opening game, finished second in the group. However, it was not enough to reach the next round.
