KUALA LUMPUR: Winger Aiman Afif Md Afizul has warned his Malaysian teammates against taking Indonesia lightly in the Under-23 Asean football championship.
The Young Tigers will open their campaign against Indonesia in Group B at the Rayong Province Stadium in Thailand tomorrow before meeting Timor Leste on August 22.
While FAM has targeted its team to qualify for the final, Aiman is tasked to lead the attack.
"This group is quite tough although there are only three teams.
"Indonesia will be without their key players but we can't look down on them.
"We will aim to win all our matches. Our target is the final," said the Kedah-born Aiman.
Three group winners and one best runner-up will advance to the semi-finals of the Under-23 Asean championship.
Aiman said he hopes to impress coach E. Elavarasan and win a place in the national team to the Under-23 Asian Cup qualifiers next month in Thailand.
Malaysia are drawn in Group H with Thailand, Bangladesh and the Philippines.
