KUALA LUMPUR: Spaniards Pau Marti Vicente and Juan Torres Garrido have emerged as the frontrunners for the vacant national Under-23 football team coaching job.
FAM is looking for a replacement following the sudden resignation of E. Elavarasan more than a week ago.
Currently, Marti and Torres are both assistant coaches on the national senior and Under-23 teams respectively.
It is learnt that one of the duo is the likeliest coach to replace Elavarasan.
The national Under-23 team need someone to guide them for international friendlies during the Fifa window on Oct 9-17 and Nov 13-21.
It was also reported earlier that the local candidates for the national Under-23 coaching job included Nafuzi Zain (Kedah head coach), Nidzam Jamil (Selangor assistant coach) and Akmal Rizal Rakhli (Penang U-23 coach).
