Kelly ready for Houston and Florida

KELLY Tan, who shone in several LPGA Tour events this season, hopes to produce her A-game in both the US Women's Open, which starts today, in Houston and the Tour Championship on Dec 17-23.

The 27-year-old received a boost ahead of the US Open when she finished tied 11th at last weekend's Volunteers of America Classic at The Colony in Texas.

Kelly posted

a 72 to close with an even-par 284 total — seven strokes behind American winner Angela Stanford.

It was Kelly's fourth top-15 finish of the season and her second-best following a joint-ninth placing at the Marathon Classic in August.

"I am having a great season, and I hope to make an impression in the final two events — the US Open and the Tour Championship," she said.

"I am already here at the Champions Golf Club, the venue of the US Open, with my coach Gary Gilchrist ahead of the tee-off tomorrow (today).

"I feel I am prepared for the tournament, and I hope to do better this year," said Kelly, who missed the cut in her first appearance in 2014 and then tied for 32nd in her second appearance two years later.

For Kelly, it will be her first appearance at the Tour Championship since turning professional in 2014. The Malaysian made the cut for the season-ender in Florida as she is currently ranked 36th with 567 points in the CME Globe rankings. Only the top-70 golfers will make the trip to Florida.
