KUALA LUMPUR: National golfer Gavin Kyle Green bounced back strongly today to put himself in contention for a top-10 finish at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
The 28-year-old shot a four-under 68 at the Jumeirah Golf Estates to climb 11 spots to a tie for 13th on four-under 211, 10 shots back of leader John Rahm of Spain.
Following a second-round 73, Gavin knew he had to respond and did just that by bagging five birdies in his opening 14 holes.
His blemish-free run was eventually halted after dropping a double bogey on the par-three 17th.
But Gavin made up for the mistake by redeeming a stroke back with a birdie at the last.
It would be a resounding success if he finishes in the top 10 tomorrow.
World No. 5 Rahm seized the penultimate stage lead after firing a 65 to reach 15-under, giving him a one-shot advantage over England's Matt Fitzpatrick.
World No. 1 Rory McIlroy lurks at 12-under following a superb 65.
