Golfer Gavin settles for top 20 in Dubai

KUALA LUMPUR: Gavin Kyle Green can certainly walk tall after finishing a commendable tied-20th at the DP World Tour Championship, the season finale of the European Tour, in Dubai today.

Starting the day in tied for 13th, Gavin's bid to break into the top 10 failed when he could only muster a one-over 73 after mixing three birdies with four bogeys.

He finished the week at the Jumeirah Golf Estates on four-under 284, 16 shots behind winner John Rahm of Spain.

It still marked a tremendous improvement for Gavin given that he could only finish 57th in 2020.

Gavin cashed in a well-deserved US$84,000 (RM382,500) for his effort.

The biggest chunk of the US$10 million (RM45.54mil) jackpot went to world No 5 Rahm, with the champion taking home a whopping US$3 million (RM13.66mil).

Backed by his top-20 outing in Dubai, Gavin concluded his fifth European Tour season in a career-best ranking of No 31.
