Approaching Aragon with quiet confidence

The title-chasing Fabio Quartararo is cautiously optimistic of his chances at the Aragon Motorcycle Grand Prix in Spain this weekend.

Quartararo has shown strong form this year but the Motorland Aragon circuit's long straights and fast, sweeping corners will no doubt be a test for his Yamaha's pace and the weather could be a factor as well.

The Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team (SRT) rider, who finished ninth in his first wet MotoGP race at Le Mans last week, has yet to prove himself in the rain.

Despite finishing off the podium in France, Frenchman Quartararo was able to extend his lead by two points and enjoy a 10-point advantage over second placed Joan Mir (Suzuki Ecstar) in the championship standings.

Quartararo, who has three race wins to his name this season. admitted that Aragon could prove a challenging circuit for SRT.

"We are in a good position going into Aragón, we don't really need to change anything with the bike," he said.

"It is a track that could be a little difficult for us but we have the extra motivation that we are there to fight for a really good result."

Teammate Franco Morbidelli, who was forced to retire after crashing at Le Mans, is keen to bounce back this weekend especially as he knows what it takes to win at Aragon.

"I love the Aragon circuit.

"I won there in 2017 when I was in Moto2 and I think we can do a really good job there this year," he said.

Morbidelli, who won the San Marino GP, is currently sixth in the championship standings with 77 points.
