Quartararo determined to bounce back

Fabio Quartararo is not about to give up on his title hopes in this year's MotoGP following a disastrous race at the Aragon GP on Sunday.

The Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team (SRT) rider blamed it on his bike's front tyre pressure which led to his 18th-place finish in the race.

As a result, Quartararo has lost his lead in the overall standings to Suzuki Ecstar's Joan Mir.

However, he is determined to bounce back and win the title.

The Frenchman explained that an issue with his front tyre led to an increase in tyre pressure after just three laps,

"It was strange as it normally happens at hot tracks," said Quartararo.

"I couldn't ride the way I wanted to. Finishing 18th is a disaster as I was expecting at least fifth or sixth.

"We need to fix this problem with the front tire and also improve the consistency of the rear tire before the next race."

Suzuki Ecstar's Alex Rins won the race on Sunday with Alex Marquez (Repsol Honda) coming in second.

Mir, who crossed the line third, leads the championship with 121 points, followed by Quartararo (115 points) and Maverick Vinales (Monster Energy Yamaha) on 109.

Quartararo's teammate Franco Morbidelli, who finished sixth at Aragon, is sixth overall on 87 points.

Quartararo expects the Suzuki duo to remain strong at the Teruel GP, which will also be held at Aragon this week.

"I am still feeling good. This week's GP is not the last race of the season. We still have four races to go.

"Suzuki are doing well here (Aragon), but we know we can perform in Valencia.

"For the next race (Teruel), I hope to gain points and close in on Mir.

"I am not under pressure to win the overall title as our rivals are from factory teams.

The World Championships will take a two-week break after the Teruel GP before the back-to-back races in Valencia on Nov 6-8 (European GP) and Nov 13-15 (Valencia GP).

The season finale is scheduled at the Algarve International Circuit on Nov 20-22 (Portugal GP).
