Izam eyes Moto3 return

Izam Ikmal Izamli hopes to stamp his mark on the Petronas Malaysian Cub Prix Championship before returning to the World Junior Motorcycle Championships next year.

The Hi Rev SCK Honda Racing rider finished 11th overall in the CP150 class with 46 points last year — a decent achievement considering that it was his rookie season in the Cub Prix premier class.

Izam, 18, had previously raced in the Moto3 World Junior Championships, a feeder platform for the senior event — for two seasons starting 2018 with Petronas Sprinta SIC Junior team.

"I had raced in Cub Prix prior to 2017 as a privateer, but I was riding a Yamaha at the time, so my first season in CP150 last year was more of a learning curve," said Izam.

Izam, who hopes to race in the World Championships one day, is eager to return to the Moto3 world junior event next year.

"I have received an offer from an Italian team to race for one year in the Moto3 world junior event, and if everything goes to plan, I will be doing that next year."
