HSN sunk again but MS still hopeful

Malaysia Swimming (MS) have found themselves up a river without a paddle as Covid-19 again wrecked their plans.

Just when MS were looking forward to staging their first competition in more than six months, their Hari Sukan Negara (HSN) was sunk last week by the virus.

And their plan to host the postponed HSN on Oct 23-25 is all but dashed due to the latest Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Selangor, KL and Putrajaya following a new wave of Covid-19 cases.

And the Sports Ministry have told sports associations and agencies to postpone their events until after Oct 31.

MS secretary Mae Chen said the Oct 23-25 dates are no longer viable although she remained hopeful of getting the HSN competition running in November.

"We're not cancelling it just yet. We've worked hard to get things in order and we would still like to have the swim meet take place.

"November seems to be the best possible option for us although right now we can't give an exact date just yet," added Mae.
