Shalin in USBC Queens knockout stage

Shalin Zulkifli took another progressive step in her quest to win a Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) Tour title by qualifying for the knockout stage of the USBC Queens.

The 43-year-old, who retired from the national team in January, posted 1,044 pinfalls on Saturday for a three-day 3,124 total to finish 34th at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno.

Shalin took on American Brandi Branka in the first round of the USBC Queens late yesterday.

American Danielle McEwan topped the qualifiers with 3,381 pinfalls, followed by Branka (3,364) and Stephanie Zavala (3,346).

The Malaysian is also in contention for a podium finish at the USBC Women's Championship.

She leads after nine games with 2,253 pinfalls in the Diamond All-Events category.
