Shalin stumbles in pursuit of first PWBA Tour title

Shalin Zulkifli's hopes of a first Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) Tour title will have to wait after she was knocked out in the first round of the USBC Queens.

The 43-year-old, who retired from the national team in January, was off to a bad start when she lost to American Brandi Branka 626-570 at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno on Sunday.

Shalin then had a chance to still progress through the elimination bracket.

However, she fell short in a 750-663 defeat to Colombia's Rocio Restrepo in the first round.

Despite the early exit, Shalin still has a chance to finish on the podium at the USBC Women's Championships.

She leads after nine games with 2,253 pinfalls in the Diamond All-Events category.
