Malaysia finish third in U-20 Asia Rugby Sevens

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia defeated India 26-12 to finish third in the men's Under-20 Asia Rugby Sevens in Tashkent, Uzbekistan today.

In the final, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) thrashed hosts Uzbekistan 34-0 for the title.

In the semi-finals, Malaysia gave a good fight to Uzbekistan before going down 17-12, while the UAE defeated India 40-0.

In Group A, Malaysia defeated India 26-17, Kyrgyzstan 57-0 and Thailand 19-17 to top the pool on Saturday.

Asrin Azman was Malaysia's best performer with 32 points from six tries and one conversion.

Five teams took part in the women's competition, and Malaysia finished fourth.

UAE won the women's title by outplaying India 31-0 in the final.
